MK Melchior: Gov't offer to students 'indecent'

Knesset Education Committee chairman MK Michael Melchior on Sunday called the government's proposal regarding tuition payments for university students an "indecent offer." In an interview with Israel Radio, Melchior said that instead of keeping its promise to reduce tuition fees, the government was doing the opposite. "The threat from the Committee of University Presidents is an invalid one," he said. The students have been on strike for over three weeks in protest of the raise in tuition - one of several unpopular reforms proposed by the Shochat Committee.
