A foreign worker of eastern European descent confessed to being the mother who abandoned her one-year-old baby in a trash room of an apartment building in Holon.
According to Army Radio, the mother explained to police that she was no longer able to feed the baby, but that she decided to come forward to the police because out of guilt.
The woman is at present being questioned by police.
The baby was discovered lying in a stroller with water, food and a change of clothes placed beside her. The baby was hospitalized in good condition and was handed over to social services.
