Not only is El Al flying on Shabbat, but it has been serving non-kosher food, Army Radio reported on Tuesday. Less than 24 hours after the haredi community called to boycott the airline for allowing Shabbat flights, which were meant to make up for delays caused by last week's general public sector strike, it was discovered that non-kosher sandwiches were served on a Thursday flight from Moscow to Israel.

On Monday night, El Al Director-General Chaim Romano said that he would not rule out the possibility of more Shabbat flights in extenuating circumstances. "Remember that the international airport operates every day of the year, and I expect the religious community to have consideration for us the way we have had consideration for them all these years," he said.
