Olmert and Peretz begin meeting to choose IDF head

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz began a meeting on Monday evening during which a final decision will be made regarding the next IDF Chief of General Staff.
An official announcement on the appointment will be made after the meeting.
Olmert is expected to support Maj.-Gen. (res.) Gabi Ashkenazi, the candidate chosen by Peretz on Sunday evening, for the position.
