Olmert in Turkey: We want peace with Syria

Israel wants to make peace with Syria, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Thursday, but he urged Damascus to stop supporting terrorism. In a joint press conference with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Olmert said: "We want to make peace with Syria, if there is a peace we will be satisfied and be happy. We especially want Syria to stop supporting terrorism and abide by the rules set up by the international community." The comments were made in the framework of Olmert's visit to Turkey to encourage the country to "change" its relations with Iran on grounds of Iran's continuation of its nuclear program.
