Olmert praises new police appointments

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Sunday praised the planned appointment of Israel Prisons Service Chief Warden Yaakov Ganot to replace Police Chief Insp.-Gen. Moshe Karadi as chief of the Israel Police. Olmert also telephoned Karadi and thanked him for his service. The prime minister expressed confidence that Ganot and his future deputy Cmdr. Mickey Levy would be able to lead the Israel Police to "achievements and successes in the fields of law enforcement, public order and citizens' personal safety," Army Radio reported.
