Olmert responds to Iranian, Syrian threats

Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Tuesday that he "had no doubt" that officials in Syria were "aware" of the terror activity being funded, in part, in and by groups in Damascus. When asked in the interview to Channel 2 whether Israel should consider military action against Iran in light of that country's refusal to cooperate with international nuclear inspectors, Olmert responded, "The less said on that subject the better." However, Olmert continued, he welcomed US President George W. Bush's recent declaration that the United States would be prepared to defend Israel in the event that Iran attacked.
