Parents and teenagers stage sit in a youth institute in Hadera
By JPOST.COM STAFF
Scores of teenagers and parents are staging a sit-in at Hadera's Nofit institute for dependent youths, in protest against the welfare ministry's decision to close the center down, Army Radio reports.
Nofit serves as an interim station for young people tried for various offenses. The ministry is planning to move the wards to other institutes.
The Welfare Ministry says that the youths at the center are being held in "inhumane conditions".
Nofit's administration rejected the claims, saying they are "biased and untrue".
