The parents of twin brothers Naor and Adi Sodmi, who are suspected of choking a seven-year-old boy to death last week, left their hometown of Bnei Ayish on Tuesday and moved to Gadera to avoid having to confront the wrath of local residents.
Despite media reports that the twins' parents, Meir and Tzvia Sodmi, were threatened following the alleged murder of Leon Kalnatarov on Thursday, no clear evidence of concrete threats exist, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
Nevertheless, widespread anger in Bnei Ayish at the Sodmi family was noticeable in the days following the death, prompting the move.
In recent days, police took DNA samples from the twins and compared them with forensic samples taken from Kalnatrov's body at the L. Greenberg Institute of Forensic Medicine at Abu Kabir.
Forensic officers also searched for signs of injuries on the twins that could point to a possible struggle with Kalnatarov before his death.
Police discovered Kalnatarov's body wrapped in plastic sheeting under a bed in a room shared by the Sodmi twins.
The brothers allegedly exposed themselves in front of minors on three separate occasions, according to a police complaint filed last month.
On Thursday, the Kiryat Gat Magistrate's Court will hear a request by the suspects' attorney, Yaron Forer, for the twins to undergo a psychiatric exam to determine whether they are fit to stand trial.
