Peres expresses concern over election-campaign incitement

President Shimon Peres on Monday expressed concern over the level of election-campaign incitement, stressing that Israeli Arabs are equal citizens. "They are equal both in rights and duties," he said in an interview with Israel Radio. Peres pledged to work for the rapid establishment of a new coalition, but he emphasized that he could not start consultations over who to entrust with forming a government before he received the final election result, eight days after Tuesday's vote. The president said that it was important for Israeli citizens to exercise their democratic right and vote.
