PM aides to discourage US acceptance of Mecca deal

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert sent two of his top aides, Shalom Turgeman and Yoram Turbowicz, to Washington on Saturday to persuade the US administration not to recognize the agreement reached last month in Mecca between Fatah and Hamas. The two officials will meet with officials in Washington over the unity government deal in an effort to counteract pressure from Europe on the subject.
