A situation assessment following the emergency situation in Sderot was held Thursday morning at the Sderot police headquarters.
The meeting was attended by senior staff and officers of the Israel Police, including Police Chief Insp.-Gen. David Cohen, senior officials in the Internal Security Ministry, and senior officers in the Israel Prisons Service including Chief Warden Benny Kaniak.
The findings of the assessment were not publicized.
Also, leaders of the northern 'confrontation line' communities met at noon with Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal. Twelve mayors, including Kiryat Shmona's Haim Barbivai and Ma'alot council head Shlomo Buchbut discussed with Moyal the problems common to both areas, both defense and economic.
