Ramon reappointed outpost czar

The government on Sunday reappointed Vice Premier Haim Ramon (Kadima) to head the interministerial committee dealing with the unauthorized outposts. It's the second time around for Ramon, who was in charge of this committee until he resigned his post as justice minister in August 2006. The committee was originally formed in the wake of the 2005 Talia Sasson report which found that there are 105 unauthorized outposts. In Ramon's absence the committee was headed by Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann. The new chairman of the Council of Jewish Communities of Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip Dani Dayan said he didn't believe there was an "outpost problem." With respect to Ramon, he said, "We are happy to work together with him."
