The INS Eilat missile ship sustained damages after sailing over a large sub-marine object near Haifa waters, sources said Tuesday evening.
The ship's propellers were damaged in the incident, causing a temporary halt in naval operational activity.
OC Navy Admiral David Ben-Bashat ordered an investigation into the incident. No casualties were reported.
