Shfaram official probed for 'honor killing' comment

Attorney Shai Nitzan, head of the Special Tasks Division in the State Attorney's Office, ordered police on Sunday to investigate allegations of incitement to violence by a member of the Shfaram local council, Khanafis Farj. On October 22, a Druse woman was killed by three of her relatives for supposedly conducting an affair with a Muslim man. A reporter for an Arab-language newspaper asked Farj for his opinion of the murder and he replied, "What the girl did was something terrible and the result is in keeping with the mistake she made." An Israeli Arab feminist leader complained to the attorney-general about Farj's statement.
