TA court rules to send Ramon before parole board

The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court ruled on Wednesday afternoon to send former justice minister Haim Ramon, who was convicted of sexually-related offenses, before a parole board, as per Ramon's attorney's request. The board will decide whether to cancel Ramon's conviction or let it stand. The judges decided to grant the request despite the state's opposition. A parole board can decide whether to cancel the conviction or the criminal record, according to the defendant's profile. If the board decides in Ramon's favor, and the judges in question authorize the decision, Ramon could be cleared and allowed to return to public service.
