Education Minister Yuli Tamir on Thursday requested that the Knesset Finance Committee authorize an addition of NIS 500m. shekels to her ministry's budget.
Tamir said that the addition was a modest sum that would go to meet immediate needs, including a long school day - especially in kindergartens.
The Education Ministry's budget has already been increased by NIS three billion in 2006, and totals more that NIS 27 billion, Army Radio reported.
