The cabinet meeting in which ministers were expected to vote on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's proposal to set up two investigative committees to probe the shortcomings of the war on Lebanon, was postponed on Tuesday.
The meeting, which was due to take place on Wednesday, was expected to be rescheduled for this coming Sunday.
Olmert has opted to establish two governmental inquiry commissions - with lesser powers than a state commission of inquiry - to examine the political and military aspects of the war, as well as the home front's preparedness.
Army Radio reported that the meeting was cancelled since procedures had not yet been finalized for the establishment of the proposed commissions.
Earlier, the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee voted in favor of establishing a state commission of inquiry into the war.
Eight representatives from the Labor Party, Meretz and right wing parties voted for the commission while Kadima and Shas representatives voted against it.

The committee conducted the vote despite opposition from Committee Chairman Tzahi Hanegbi.
The result, however, has only symbolic meaning since the final decision of whether to set up an inquiry lies in the hands of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert or his cabinet.
