US President Donald Trump said on Thursday he would like to see journalists gain access to Gaza to see humanitarian efforts.

Israel has not allowed foreign reporters to enter Gaza since the start of its war in October 2023, unless they are under Israeli military escort.

"I'd like to see that happen. Sure," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.

"I would be very fine with journalists going. And it's a very dangerous position to be in, as you know, if you're a journalist, but I would like to see it."

International journalists request access to Gaza

Last month, journalists from Agence France-Presse (AFP), the Associated Press (AP), BBC World Service, and Reuters called on Israeli authorities to "allow journalists in and out of Gaza," in a joint statement.

The statement from the international media outlets also stated that "It is essential that adequate food supplies reach the people there."

The journalists are "desperately concerned" for their colleagues in Gaza, who they claim are "increasingly unable to feed themselves and their families."

"These independent journalists have been the world's eyes and ears on the ground," they added.
