Hamas has asked Qatari and Egyptian mediators to clarify some of US President Donald Trump's Gaza 20-point plan's clauses and points, a source in the terror organization told the Saudi news source Al-Arabiya on Wednesday.

The report comes after the US leader had given the terror organization three to four days to respond to his proposal.

The source said in the report that Hamas has the right to make some amendments to the proposal "if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is allowed to do so."

Hamas also demanded, according to the source, that "a distinction be made between offensive and defensive weapons, as the latter is guaranteed by international law" and that they demand "a complete cessation of the war and that Israeli forces not return to the Strip," the report added.

The source also told Al-Arabiya that Hamas demands a clear timetable for the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and that the committee that would run the Strip be Palestinian, not international.

Will Hamas accept or reject peace plan?

The Al-Arabiya report comes after other conflicting reports from international media on whether or not the terror organization will accept the proposal.

A senior official of the terrorist organization told the BBC earlier on Wednesday that Hamas will likely reject the plan, saying that it "serves Israel's interests" and "ignores those of the Palestinian people."

The day before, an informed source told CBS that Hamas, alongside other Palestinian groups in the Gaza Strip, is leaning toward accepting the proposal.
