The IDF on Monday night confirmed the killing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s Lebanon commander, Abu Hamza Rami, in a strike on Beirut earlier in the day.
The IDF said Rami was responsible for advancing and carrying out hundreds of terrorist attacks against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians.
“Recently, Rami continued to advance numerous terrorist attacks on behalf of the organization from within Lebanon, including training Nukhba terrorists, recruiting terrorists, and procuring weapons for the organization,” the Israeli military statement read.
In its attack, the military said it caused a “severe degradation” to PIJ’s ability carry out terror operations against Israel.
The IDF resumed aerial operations deep within Lebanon early Monday morning in response to rockets fired by Hezbollah toward northern Israel. The raids were still ongoing late at night, with strikes against targets in Beirut, according to the military.
Hezbollah claims to join strikes against Israel, IDF says no missiles fired from Lebanon
Hezbollah claimed to be officially joining the war between Israel and Iran on Monday night, after reports of missiles being fired from Lebanon alongside a barrage fired from Iran.
The IDF later denied any missile fired from Hezbollah, saying that the only launches detected were coming from Iranian territory.
One impact was registered in central Israel after the latest Iranian missile barrage, while no injuries were reported, according to Magen David Adom.
