The IDF carried out strikes against the Al-Qard Al-Hasan Association, which funds Hezbollah terrorists throughout Lebanon, the military confirmed on Monday.

Al-Qard Al-Hasan has been operating as a "key civilian financial institution in Lebanon," but leverages civilian funds to support Hezbollah terror activity.

The funds provided by the association allow Hezbollah terrorists to purchase weapons and weapon production materials, as well as funding terrorist salary payments, the IDF noted.

The Al-Qard Al-Hasan Association has been under US sanctions since 2007, and other international sanctions for its role in financing the terror organization, the IDF told military reporters.

The strikes targeted Hezbollah's financial reserves in the association's branches, which were a significant financial infrastructure for the organization's terror funding.

The military estimates that Hezbollah will need billions of dollars in the coming years to aid in the recovery process for the damage Israel did to it since October 2023.

Hezbollah dependent on Iran, IRGC-QF to provide funding

Hezbollah is economically dependent on Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps - Quds Force, taking responsibility for transferring funds via Syria. The fall of the Assad regime in December 2024 caused a halt to transfers via Syria, requiring the IRGC-QF to transfer funds over flights from Iran to Lebanon.

Recently, IRGC-QF has used money launderers in intermediary countries, including Turkey, to facilitate this, the IDF told reporters.

The Central Bank of Lebanon has forbidden financial institutions from engaging with the association and threatened to freeze accounts and revoke licenses of institutions continuing to use it, but this has not prevented the association from continuing operations, the IDF said.
