A small explosion went off in Beirut Wednesday morning, causing no injuries or damage, civil defense officials said.
The nature of the explosion was not immediately clear as police rushed experts to the scene to investigate, said the officials who spoke on customary condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press.
But a major private Lebanese television station, LBC, reported that a stick of dynamite tossed from a speeding car into an empty lot in the Tahwita neighborhood in the Christian sector of the city caused the explosion.
