Palestinian factions from Hamas and Fatah will meet in Cairo on Oct. 25 to sign a reconciliation charter, Egypt's foreign minister said Monday.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit said in a joint press conference with his Jordanian counterpart in Amman that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas had agreed on the signing date.
The meeting would involve the heads of the various Palestinian factions "who will sign the charter," he said.
Aboul Gheit said "the Palestinian factions will be informed of the content of the agreement in the coming few days and the general outlines of this final agreement."
Egypt has been leading mediation efforts.
Earlier in the day, Aboul Gheit met with Jordan's King Abdullah II and later with Abbas.
