The United States’ response to Iran’s attack on Israel’s oil refinery in Haifa and a water and electrical plant in Kuwait will come soon, US President Donald Trump told the New York Post on Monday.

“You’ll see shortly,” Trump told the New York Post following a request for comment on the strikes, adding that he urges Iran’s regime to make a deal “before it’s too late.”

Further, he noted that the US will “soon find out” if Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf is willing to work with them.

“I’ll let you know that in about a week,” Trump said. “There has been total regime change because the regimes of the past are gone and we’re dealing with a whole new set of people.”

“And thus far, they’ve been much more reasonable.”

Regarding Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, Trump confirmed earlier reports that he has not been heard from, adding that “he’s very seriously injured.”

Khamenei has not been publicly seen since his appointment as the supreme leader, and his state of health has been a point of debate since.

“We don’t know [if he is still alive],” Trump told the New York Post. “We think probably yes, but in extraordinarily bad shape.”

Trump threatens to ‘obliterate’ Iran’s energy infrastructure over Hormuz

Earlier on Monday, Trump said in a post to Truth Social that “great progress has been made” in the ongoing talks between the US and Tehran.

He then repeated his threat to Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz, threatening to “obliterating” Iran’s energy infrastructure should the strait not reopen soon.

"Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately 'Open for Business,' we will conclude our lovely 'stay' in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island,” the post read.

Trump added that the US would also attack Iran’s desalination plants, which supply clean water to the country, should the Strait of Hormuz remain closed.
