The Palestinian Authority Cabinet asked rival security forces Monday to stop fighting and work under a joint command, the PA information minister said.
The decision, which came after eight people were killed in Hamas-Fatah clashes in Gaza over two days, appeared to be largely symbolic and of little practical value.
It was to be presented to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas later Monday for approval, said Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti.
