A British soldier died in Iraq on Friday after a roadside bomb attack, the Ministry of Defense said.
The soldier, from the 4th Battalion The Rifles, died after the attack in the southern city of Basra, where the majority of British troops are based.
The soldier, who was not identified by name, was the 153rd British soldier to be killed in Iraq since the start of the military campaign in March 2003.
