Suicide driver strikes in Iraq; at least 17 dead

A suicide truck bomber detonated his explosives Tuesday in a crowded public market in the center of Tal Afar, killing at least 17 people and injuring 35, police said. The attack occurred about 8:30 p.m. in the center of Tal Afar, according to Col. Abdul-Karim Mohammed of the Nineveh provincial police, who gave the casualty figures. Officials said the bomber struck near closing time when people crowded into the market to finish their shopping. In Baghdad, Lt. Col.
