15-year-old who allegedly stabbed his father in family argument turns himself in after 5 hour search.
A 57-year-old man from Tamra, in the southern Galilee, was stabbed to death on Saturday afternoon, apparently by his 15-year-old son. The preliminary police investigation of the murder suggests that the suspect stabbed his father during an argument in the yard of the family home. After allegedly stabbing his father, the youth fled the scene. He turned himself in after police searched for him for five hours. He denied the allegations against him. A local ambulance team was alerted to the scene and tried to resuscitate the man, but eventually pronounced him dead. Police were also deployed in the area to prevent any possible violent attacks to avenge the murder. Saturday's incident was the 14th murder case in the last month. On Wednesday, the Knesset Internal Affairs Committee held a special emergency session on crime. At the meeting, Justice Minister Yaakov Neeman presented data showing that more than 80 percent of criminals received sentences four times more lenient than what the law specifies. "Our problem is enforcing the law of the State of Israel," Neeman told the committee. "We have a tendency to blame the police, to blame judges, to blame prosecutors, but not to blame ourselves," he added.
