The director-general of the Kalansuwa Municipality Viam Zamiro was shot and killed after he had just finished playing a soccer game, police say.
The director-general of the Kalansuwa Municipality was shot dead late on Wednesday night.

The murder victim, Viam Zamiro, was shot while sitting in his car in the center of Kalansuwa. He died instantly, paramedics said.

The shooting took place minutes after he had finished playing a soccer game, police said.

Zamiro, 36, was married and had two children.

His brother was shot and wounded several months ago while sitting at a cafe.

Police said every lead was being examined, and have not ruled out the possibility that the shooting could be linked to Zamiro’s work, or alternatively a personal conflict.

Police are concerned about the high number of shootings that have taken place in the Triangle region, east of Netanya, in recent months.

The numbers of patrol officers has been increased and police are carry out frequent arms raids in an effort to stem the violence.
