Ayalon: Calls for Palestinian state diminish its chances
Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon addressed the Left-wing protest by intellectuals in Tel Aviv Thursday calling for Palestinian statehood, saying that such positions "only further distance the chances of appeasement and the creation of a Palestinian state."

He added that actions and positions like those at the demonstration outside Tel Aviv's Independence Hall, "create false hopes among Palestinians about the possibility of establishing a state unilaterally, without [conducting] negotiations with Israel." It would be better, Ayalon said, "if the protesters were convincing the Palestinian leadership to come to the negotiating table."
