A senior Palestinian security official said that the PA is not taking steps to fight against kidnappings. The official claimed that the PA prefers to negotiate with kidnappers. This approach, he continued, has increased the general chaos in the PA, Israel Radio reported. There have been 75 kidnappings since Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip. Armed individuals resort to kidnapping in order to get jobs, free family members from prison, and as a method of revenge.
