Three Palestinian men in their 30s were arrested following a Tuesday night raid of an Umm al-Fahm apartment, where officers seized illegal arms, including an explosive device, pistol and ammunition.
According to police, the weapons were intended to be sold on a black market. “The arrest is part of a general police operation taking place throughout the country to round up illegal weapons being sold for profit,” said Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld Wednesday.
Umm al-Fahm is in the Haifa district, 20 kilometers north-west of Jenin, with a population of nearly 50,000 primarily Arab-Israeli citizens. All three suspects are being held in police custody and will be arraigned this week, Rosenfeld said.
