The security breach lead to the cancellation of his promotion and his removal from office
IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot on Friday announced that an IDF officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel was ejected from his position, after being long suspected of a number of security offenses.

The decision to oust the officer came in light of the findings from an in depth security investigation. During a security check, several severe findings emerged, the army said, leading Eisenkot to remove the officer.

The officer, who was set to be promoted to the rank of colonel served in various sensitive roles in the army.

The army said he carried out a string of violations by giving away classified information. This security breach lead to the cancellation of his promotion and his subsequent removal from office. The officer is expected to be dismissed from the IDF.

Yaakov Lappin contributed to this report.
