Marchers will walk from the parliament to the memorial site for Jews who were turned over to the Nazis by Finnish locals on November 6, 1942.
The March of Life will take place for the first time in the Finnish capital of Helsinki on June 2. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the event, including representatives of the parliament.

Marchers will walk from the parliament to the memorial site for Jews who were turned over to the Nazis by Finnish locals on November 6, 1942.

Director of the Knesset Christian Allies Caucus and president of the Israel Allies Foundation, Josh Reinstein, will travel from Israel to Finland for the event, which aims to bring Holocaust survivors together with descendants of Nazis for reconciliatory events, with the hopes that these interactions will lead toward a better future.

“For 10 years, March of Life has enabled tens of thousands of people around the world to be an effective voice against antisemitism through their personal confrontation with the Shoah,”  said March of Life founder Jobst Bittner. “As we continue to expand to new cities each year, we are grateful that Helsinki has joined our dynamic and growing movement.”

Speakers at the march will include Bittner and Reinstein, as well as Israel’s Ambassador to Finland H.E. Dov Segev-Steinberg, chairman of the Finnish Parliamentary Israel Allies Caucus MP Peter Östman, chairman of the Federation of Finland-Israel Associations Risto Huvila, and others.
