Bill banning visitors of enemy states from Knesset passes 1st reading
10/28/2007
The ministerial committee on legislation approved Sunday a bill according to which any citizen visiting an enemy state would not be allowed to run for the Knesset. The bill, which was passed in its first reading, was proposed by MK Estherina Tartman (Israel Beitenu) and is one of a number of recently proposed bills which seek to toughen the state's stance on citizens who visit or maintain contact with enemy states. The bill is supported by the coalition and it is likely to be passed by the Knesset in some capacity.
