Maccabi Tel Aviv will face the New York Knicks in a preseason exhibition game at Madison Square Garden on October 11.
Maccabi, which will be playing against an NBA team for the 18th time in its history, has never played the celebrated Knicks before and will be the first Israeli side to play at the most famous basketball arena in the world.
All the proceeds from the game will go to the American Friends of Migdal Ohr, an organization that provides a shelter and education for over 6,500 abused, impoverished and orphaned children in Israel.
Tel Aviv has beaten five NBA teams in the past and is the only international side to defeat a professional NBA side on its home court, beating the Toronto Raptors 105-103 in 2005.
Maccabi played four exhibition games against NBA sides last summer - the San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors - losing every one of them
The Knicks were only eliminated from playoff contention in the last week of the 2006/07 season, ending with a 33-49 record.
Also on Tuesday, Maccabi guard Will Bynum committed his future to the club, signing a new two-year-deal.
The 24-year-old American, who averaged 11 points and 2.5 assists per game in the Euroleague last season, suffered from indifferent form at the start of the season, but his improved play in the last couple of months convinced new Tel Aviv coach Oded Katash to renew his contract.
