Nofar Edelman is the first Israeli women to book her place at next year's Beijing Olympics after finishing seventh in the Laser Radial World Championships, which ended on Tuesday in Cascais, Portugal.
Edelman, who finished 10th in Tuesday's medal race, will become the first Israeli to represent the country at the Olympics in the Laser Radial competition.
In the Neil Pryde, Shahar Tzuberi is in eighth position midway through the championships, with Nimrod Mashiah in 21st place. Olympic champion Gal Fridman is last among the Israelis and is positioned two places below Mashiah.
In the women's competition, Ma'ayan Davidovitch is the best placed Israeli (31st), with 2003 world champion Lee Korzits in 38th position.
Udi Gal and Gidi Kliger, who are currently in 48th place in the 470 Class, are Israel's biggest disappointment of the championships so far.
The duo was hoping to claim a medal in Portugal, but at the moment even Israel's number two team of Eyal Levin and Amir Yam are positioned 27 places ahead of them. Nika Kornecki and Vered Buskila are in seventh place in the women's 470 competition, with Noa Botzer and Laja Trajtenberg in 32nd position.
