Gaash Golf Club has made several changes to its course in order to make it more challenging.
The course is now a par 70 with the second hole, which had been a par 5, now being a tough par 4 for men (393 meters from the men's tees, 304m from the ladies').
On the back nine, a change was made on the formerly-par 4 14th hole, which is now par 3 (169m for men and 164m for ladies).
Most of the player's handicaps were increased by at least two strokes in light of the changes, which also results in more realistic handicaps on both the national and international levels. Visitors to Gaash will no longer need to adjust their official handicaps.
The monthly medal tournament that was held on Tuesday demonstrated that the players have adapted well to the slightly altered conditions on the course.
Arik Sagi won the "A" Division, with a net 65, followed by Cyril Kaufman (net 68).
In the "B" Division, three players scored net 71: Amos Raz, Shmulik Almagor and Yerucham Shafat. Raz was awarded first place and Almagor second on a countdown.
Limor Sid (net 67) came out on top in the "C" Division, followed by Eli Tzfoni (69).
Limor had the longest drive (176 meters on the par 4 fifth hole) and Arik was nearest to the pin on the par 3 fourth hole, 3.15m from the flagstick.
The club is preparing for the annual Gaash Club Championships, which will be held Thursday and Friday, September 7-8.
