Ziontours 4, Tigers 3
On Sunday, Ziontours edged the Tigers in a pitching duel between Aaron Levarko and Ari Kanterewitz. Mike Doktovsky's bloop single in the bottom of the sixth scored Eitan Frankel and broke a 3-3 tie.
The Tigers had 12 hits, including an inside-the-park home run by Guy Bender that knotted the score at three, but they left the bases loaded several times and were victimized by a neat double play turned by Ziontours third baseman Joel Katzin, who snatched a hard grounder, stepped on the bag and threw to catcher Benny Ruggill who applied the tag for the out.
Tigers 10,Galil Twisters 2
On Tuesday, veteran Kanterewitz was again locked in a pitching battle, this time with the Galil Twisters wunderkind, Kobi Daya. The Tigers led 3-2 through 41â„2 innings before a seven-run fifth broke it open.
Kanterewitz struck out four, walked two and induced 10 fly outs, while Daya whiffed a pair and walked three. The defense behind Daya had all kinds of problems with grounders on a rain-soaked infield which led to six unearned runs.
Ilan Spira had two hits, including a triple that hit the top of the left field fence, and Avi Shamir had a pair of RBI singles for the Tel Aviv Tigers.
