It was the juniors who stole the show in the July Monthly Medal held at the Ga'ash Golf Club on Tuesday, although an old Israeli legend snagged the top prize and reminded the youngsters that golf is a sport for the golden years as well.
Nearly 70 golfers braved the extremely warm weather to play on what can only be described as a perfectly prepared and manicured course.
Leon Etting, a former Israeli golf champion who has not been playing competitive golf for many years, won the "A" Division with a net-66 score. Playing off a 12-handicap, Leon had an excellent gross-78.
In second place was 16-year-old Inon Zadok with a net-67. Inon, back after playing in the Maccabi Games, had a gross score of 76.
In the "B" Divison it was the battle of the juniors where 14-year-old Itai Gonen of Ramat Hasharon had his best round of his young golfing career, ending up with a net-60.
Itai, playing off an 18 handicap, had a gross score of 78, which included a front-nine of 38 made up of three birdies, two pars, two bogies and a pair of doubles. In second place, and keeping up his good form, was 14 year old Tomer Koren on net-67.
The "C" Division was won by Ezra Sharabani with a net-68 followed by Yakov Har-Oz on net-70.
Nearest to the Pin prizes, sponsored by the Wine Center at Ga'ash, went to Danny Hurwitz and Gidon Eilat.
In the final of the on-going Knock-Out tournament, Tomer Koren won the "B" Division by beating veteran golfer Harry Brody.
