Michael Illin shaved one hundredth of a second off of Ofhir Shmueli's eight-year-old Israeli record time in the 110-meter hurdles on Sunday at the European Division III national championships in Slovakia.
Illin, 20, finished second in his event in 14.13 seconds, helping the men's team to a third-place finish.
Other notable performances among the men included Alex Averbukh winning the pole vault with a 5.40-meter leap; Itai Magidi finishing second in the steeplechase (8:57.50); and Vadim Bavikin placing third in the javelin (73.09m).
Nili Avramski won the women's 5,000m in 17:10.78 and Irina Lenskiy took the 100m hurdles in 13.44. The women finished fourth of eight competing nations.
