LUIS FERNANDEZ'S CAREER
  • Started playing career at Paris Saint Germain, where he was made captain. The team won the league twice in 1983/84 and 1985/86 and the cup in 1981/82.
  • Joined Racing Paris from 1987 to 1990.
  • Moved to Cannes from 1990 to 1992.
  • Won 70 international caps with France - his greatest achievement being winning the 1984 European championships where he played in the midfield with Platini, Giresse and Tigana - known as the four musketeers.
  • Also played in the 1986 World Cup where France lost in the semifinals to Germany.
  • Began managerial career at Cannes in 1993/4.
  • Moved to PSG as manager in 1994, where he won two League Cups, two France Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1996.
  • In 1997 he took up the coaching position at Athletico Bilbao, where he won the Cup of the King of Spain in 1998
  • Returned to PSG from 1999 to 2001.
  • In 2003/04 he worked at Espanyol in Spain.
  • In 2005 worked as coach of Al Rayyan in Qatar from August till November.
