Shahar Pe'er was seeded a career-best 21st for the upcoming Championships at Wimbledon. Seeded for only the second time at a Grand Slam, Pe'er cannot be drawn to face another seeded player until the third round and even then, barring upsets, will be spared from facing the top eight seeds.
The doubles team of Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich were seeded fifth.
Pe'er, Ram and Erlich will all be in action Thursday in respective doubles quarterfinal action in their final tune-up events in England before the start of Wimbledon.
Ram and Erlich, the top seeds and defending champs at the Red Letter Days Open in Nottingham, take on Frenchmen Richard Gasquet and Nicolas Mahut, while Pe'er and partner Marion Bartoli of France meet the No. 2 seeds, Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova and Ai Sugiyama of Japan, at the Hastings Direct International Championships in Eastbourne.
Also on Thursday, Noam Okun will attempt to reach the main draw at Wimbledon for the third time when he faces No. 6 seed Frank Dancevic of Canada in the third and final round of qualifying.
Okun, ranked 220 in the world, has played well so far in topping two players ranked higher than him, and despite the fact that Dancevic is ranked 98 spots ahead of him, Okun has a real chance against the Canadian. The pair have split their four previous meetings, with Okun winning the only match on grass at a challenger event last year.
Okun is the last remaining player of four that tried to qualify at the All England club - Tzipi Obziler, Dudi Sela and Amir Hadad. Obziler was also ousted in the doubles qualifying on Wednesday, losing with partner Romina Oprandi of Italy 6-1, 7-6(3) to Lilia Osterloh and Asha Rolle of the United States.
