Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich claimed the Israel Open doubles title as expected on Saturday at Ramat Hasharon, defeating Sergei Bubka and Michail Elgin 6-3, 7-6 (3).
The Israeli duo, which was the only world class team in the $50,000 Challenger tournament named after Col. Ilan Ramon, didn't drop a set throughout the week and was pleased with winning a title in Israel, small as it may be.
"It was a great experience to play in Israel and win a title," Erlich said.
"Our next target is to do well in the coming weeks in the US and to enter the Olympics in good form. My dream is to win a medal and I will do anything to realize it," added Ram.
The singles tournament at Ramat Hasharon was won by Marsel Ilhan, who defeated Ivo Klec 6-4, 6-4.
