The celebration follows a similar event at the site in 2025, which angered the families of October 7 attack victims. As a result, the JNF and police banned such events in 2026.

KKL-JNF requested that visitors respect the seriousness of the site and the events which occurred there, as well as the feelings of the victims' families.

Miran, who was released from Gaza after 738 days in captivity, said that he views telling the stories of what happened as "an immensely important national mission, a life mission."

The rehabilitated trees will eventually be displayed to the public at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens in Givat Ram and at KKL-JNF's Eshtaol Nursery.
