“I will remain in the Knesset with my colleagues who are my partners in the struggle, fighting for our lives, for our future, and for the face of our country,” Shaffir wrote.

A source close to Elkin said he wanted the support of all sectors of the city, and he believes they could all back him, including some if not all branches among the haredim.

Incumbent Ron Huldai is 73 and some say it's time for him to retire.
