Sgt.-Maj. Alon Kudriashov, 21, from Modi’in, fell in battle in the southern Gaza Strip on Friday, the IDF announced prior to the start of Shabbat.
The 21-year-old Egoz Unit commando was posthumously promoted from the rank of staff-sergeant.
A Gazan terrorist fired an RPG toward a floor in the building where Kudriashov and the rest of the Egoz force were staying, in the al-Amal neighborhood in western Khan Yunis.
As a result of the explosion and the walls collapsing, Kudriashov was killed and another 16 soldiers were wounded – six seriously, five moderately, and five lightly.
Unit 669 and air force rescue helicopters evacuated the wounded to hospital within 55 minutes of the explosion.
The incident took place around 10 a.m.

Modi’in-Maccabim-Reut Mayor Haim Bibas eulogized Kudriashov: “The bereaved family of Modi’in-Maccabim-Reut has expanded. Just before Shabbat, we were informed of the death of Sgt.-Maj. Alon Kudriashov, a combat soldier in the unit’s commando formation. Alon, a graduate of Ironi Alef High School, was killed today in combat in the Gaza Strip. In my name and in the name of all the residents of the city, I send my condolences to the Kudriashov family.”
