A three-year-old girl was left behind in the duty free shops at Ben-Gurion Airport on Sunday by her parents, who flew off to Paris without her.
The parents took off on the flight with four of their five children, and the little girl was found wandering the duty free shops with no adult supervision.
Ben-Gurion Airport policemen who noticed the wandering child among the thousands of passengers who went through Ben-Gurion Airport on Sunday - one of the busiest days ever in Terminal 3 - managed to calm her down and to find out her first and last name.
After looking for her name in the lists of passengers, the policemen realized that her parents had left on a Sun D'or flight to Paris.
According to Ben-Gurion Airport police, the parents failed to notice that one of their children was missing until the pilot of the plane was contacted by the police and then sent the airplane staff to check.
The airplane staff counted the passengers and realized that one of the passengers indeed was missing. Eventually they informed the parents about their forgotten child.
The little girl was flown to Paris later on Sunday on an El Al flight, escorted by a special cabin attendant to where her parents waited for her.
The parents will be taken in for questioning as soon as they return from their vacation.
