The Israeli Museum of Caricatures and Comics in Holon is launching a new exhibit on Thursday, the first in a two-part series that will be displayed in honor of Israel's 60th anniversary. Hebrew Comics Chapter I will trace the development of the children's comics genre in Israel from the mid-1930s until 1975 - from heroic rescue stories to agricultural pioneers to interplanetary hijinks. The exhibit offers insight into a generally underestimated field. The comics, aside from entertaining, provide reflections of the changing history in the country, politically, socially and militarily. The exhibit will run through July 30.
